Vivianna Torun, who embodied the "Timeless" quality we hold dear in her jewelry designs.
Since this is the debut of a model I love dearly, please allow me to explain.
The designer is Sweden's Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe.
Born in 1927, she began creating jewelry in her teens and held a solo exhibition by the age of 21.
She was a woman who poured intense passion into silversmithing and jewelry, which was rare for the time.
She is known as the first female silversmith to achieve international fame.
She opened her own studio in Sweden, made her living as a silversmith from a young age, and even had her skills recognized by Picasso (see the last photo).
She met Georg Jensen at an awards ceremony in 1960,
began collaborating with the brand in 1967,
and continued to provide designs until her death in 2004 at the age of 76, creating numerous masterpieces.
This bangle, released in 1968, is one of her iconic pieces and a signature design.
She famously said, "Jewelry should be timeless and enhance the wearer. It shouldn't matter if they are 17 or 87."
This is considered the philosophy behind her jewelry making.
From her decision to twist silver and add gemstones because she hated making jewelry for celebrity wives, to creating watches out of stainless steel (which became one of her most representative works at GJ, haha),
her somewhat anti-establishment, outlaw spirit is something I, as a fellow woman, find irresistibly attractive.
She shunned expensive stones and flashy ornamentation, seeking instead a natural beauty that seamlessly integrates with the wearer.
Bearing her name, this "TORUN" design is organic and minimalist to the extreme.
The design holds a promise of being together forever, based on the idea that the hook is stronger when joined than when apart.
There are various versions of the TORUN bangle, including gold, silver, and diamond-set options, but
this combination of silver and gold is my personal favorite.
The elegant combination of gold and silver with no other ornamentation feels quintessentially Torun, a lover of ultimate simplicity.
It is not overly assertive, and it transcends trends, eras, and genders to suit any wrist.
This is a bangle whose spirit I want to continue to love along with the piece itself.
