Great Britain duffle coat

A 1970s duffle coat made in England.

Modified from toggle buttons to fabric-covered buttons,

this duffle coat was made for women with a feminine overlap.

It’s quite rare.

It features a storm patch for rain protection, large pockets on both sides,

and incorporates classic duffle coat details.

The large "pancake" hood, which folds flat when not in use,

comes with a chin strap, offering the excellent cold-weather protection around the face that makes duffle coats so appealing.

You probably won't even need an umbrella on light rainy days.

Speaking of duffle coats, during World War II,

the Royal Navy adopted them for their excellent warmth and functionality.

After the war, surplus stock hit the general market,

leading them to be widely loved as a standard coat for men.

I'm so happy to be able to wear one in this size.

Originally designed as an overcoat,

it is an unlined, single-layer garment with a clean construction;

however, the high-density wool (and other fibers) fabric is warm enough for mid-winter if you layer underneath.

In early spring, you can just throw it on over a tee or a light cut-and-sew,

pair it with some jeans, and it's just right.

The fact that you can wear it for such a long season is also a big plus.

Personally, I had never encountered a duffle coat in my own size that I truly loved until now,

but after trying this on, I’m drawn to its functionality and history,

and it felt surprisingly great to wear.

My thoughts are a bit scattered and this has become quite long, but there’s something wonderful about a woman who can wear a piece like this effortlessly.

You rarely come across such a fine duffle coat. Highly recommended.
