My first JPG piece is, surprisingly, a piece of jewelry. I had no idea Gaultier made things like this.
It features unique, coil-like parts made from wound thin wire. It’s simple, yet it’s a cool design that I haven’t really seen anyone else do.
With its fetish and punk aesthetic, I can truly feel the world of Gaultier in it.
Apparently, there’s something very similar from a famous Belgian brand, but the Gaultier piece felt cooler, with meticulous attention to detail in every corner.
As expected from a French silversmith, the craftsmanship is incredible. I believe the true value of a simple chain piece ultimately lies in the structure of the clasp.
I love that the clasp is hidden in this design; it’s wonderful that it still looks great even if the necklace spins around while wearing it.
From my usual Parisian jeweler. He doesn’t just deal with famous silver houses like Hermès or Tiffany;
he collects items with broad knowledge, genuine interest, and a deep understanding of our tastes, always introducing me to pieces I’ve never seen before.
This time, I acquired it from him after he bought it from a friend of his (!) who used to work at Gaultier.
Among the various rings, bracelets, and other items, I begged him not to let anyone else have this necklace and managed to secure it. lol
A truly cool silver necklace, even without the brand name. It’s the best!
