It looks plain at first glance, but this late 90s C.P. field jacket knocked me out the moment I put it on.
If you look closely, you’ll notice that among all the field jackets out there, this one is sampled from the U.S. Army's M1943 jacket.
The collar design is pure M43, updated with a modern touch: a deep, elegant brown cotton-nylon fabric, sans epaulets, keeping all the best features.
It really stirs the soul, haha.
By the way, this collar detail is a design also found on older C.P. pieces.
While Massimo wasn't the designer at this time, this piece carries on the spirit of the brand's founder—a military collector himself—and really captures that era's essence.
It’s cool. It may look understated, but I believe these are exactly the kind of clothes worth loving.
As I always say, the fabric is just incredible! High-density, soft, tough, lightweight, and the way it hangs off the shoulders is just beautiful.
You might think wearing it oversized would make it look sloppy, but non, non, non. Haha.
Clean yet slightly rugged, with a touch of class—that’s the real thrill of vintage C.P.
Regarding the M1943 model I mentioned, the original is extremely rare. To explain simply, it’s the earliest model to feature the four front pockets that later became standard on the famous M65 field jacket.
There was a preceding model called the M41, but that wasn't a four-pocket style; it was more like a Harrington jacket. The '43 was the catalyst for the evolution into the M51 and then the M65.
Learning about vintage pieces can be so fascinating; that’s what I’m thinking right now as I look at this C.P. jacket and write this.
So, this C.P. jacket even has a slightly connoisseur side to it.
I think it’s perfect for the coming season. Since it has this kind of fit, you could layer underneath and wear it through winter, too—it’s a versatile piece.
A cool, normcore jacket with zero brand posturing.
