I acquired this from a lovely lady I met in Paris the other day. This is the first time I have carried this brand.
According to this lady, who has long been involved in the jewelry industry and now rents and sells jewelry to stylists and celebrities,
Marion Godart was founded by sisters Marion and her younger sister Martine, who poured her passion into jewelry making from the 70s.
Although it seems it was founded in 1988, the style, as you can see, is from the mid-century/space-age period of the mid-60s to the 70s. It seems the dynamic was that Martine provided the sense of style, while Marion’s business acumen propelled the brand to fame, getting it featured in magazines and worn by models.
While Marion Godart has produced many other iconic pieces, what I particularly love about these two is their chic Black & White coloring. It is not pure white, but rather a slightly beige, cream-like tone, which makes it all the better. It matches any outfit or occasion.
Unlike modern plastic, this vintage resin has a wonderful, indescribable matte finish.
The back of the petals features parts that shape and support them, indicating high-quality construction. The lady mentioned that the centers of the flowers were made of horn, but I cannot tell the difference myself, so it remains unconfirmed.
The parts are strung together with elastic that was professionally repaired, so it is sturdy and not worn out, and it stretches well.
