It’s so cute. Seriously.
Now that I really think about it, this is the first time I've seen a motif of a bird wrapped in a snake.
The material is a dense, sturdy weave similar to a kilim,
but since it’s not 100% wool and contains acrylic,
it feels like something between a blanket and a rug—soft and easy to handle.
Because of its large size, it works perfectly as a carpet,
but I think it would also look striking if you were bold enough to hang it on a wall.
It’s durable enough to use as an outdoor leisure mat or a mattress cover,
so I highly recommend using it heavily for those purposes as well.
An extra-large piece of fabric you can use however you like.
I happened to stumble upon this at a vintage shop in Berlin,
and I was so fond of the design that I decided to stock it.
Details such as the country of origin and era, including its connection to Mexico, are unknown.
Was it made in Germany, or perhaps owned by an immigrant who let it go...?
My gut feeling is that it’s from around the 80s? It has that vibe of being somewhat old, but not too old.
There are no visible stains or defects; it is in very beautiful condition.
