A rare piece of Austrian 925 silver jewelry.
It features an interesting design that looks as if a curb chain has been pressed and flattened from above.
It is as supple as a snake chain,
and I love its tough, animal-scale-like appearance.
It balances perfectly on the wrist,
and it is so comfortable to wear that you could easily leave it on all the time.
According to the many dealers I have spoken to over the years,
most European silver pieces marked only with "925"
originate from either Germany, Austria, or Italy.
However, in my experience, Italian pieces always explicitly include an "Italy" hallmark (the same goes for clothing, haha),
which helps to narrow things down. Fascinating.
There is still so much I don't know about the European silver market,
but this is my first time sourcing silver specifically as Austrian, and it is simply cool.
Also, each individual part is different from those found on German or French pieces—I have never seen anything like them.
Not just this unique chain, but the subtle size and thickness of the clasp are completely different as well.
It isn't as angular as German silver, and I love the rounded feel.
The craftsmanship, of course, is excellent.
