This Stone Island piece is really cool.

A Raso Gommato jacket from the Spring/Summer 2001 launch.

The color is ice grey.

It is labeled as a size M, but fits like a good size L. Pit-to-pit is 60cm.

It has that distinct volume characteristic of this fabric!!

First of all, since this is our first time stocking Raso Gommato, I'm going to write a bit more than usual, so please bear with me.

I personally own several jackets in this fabric and it is a series I truly love; I believe it’s one of the greatest fabrics ever developed by Massimo Osti.

I will explain this further below, but for this specific piece, the lining coating has peeled off and looks a bit messy, but this is unavoidable.

One of the pieces in my personal collection is the same way, and while I can't photograph my other jackets as they are currently at the cleaners, most others I've seen—including my own—are like this, so please take it as part of its charm!

I have included photos of a red jacket from my personal collection at the end, so please take a look if you'd like.

This fabric is made by taking Egyptian cotton woven in satin in Switzerland, applying a rubber coating, then a polyurethane coating, and finally garment dyeing it. I believe that’s how it was done. Haha.

By the way, the idea for this rubber coating seems to have come from British equestrian gear. The vision was so ahead of its time!

I think I read that in a book back when I first bought one.

Regarding the lining: it is a characteristic of this series that the polyurethane coating peels off through use and washing. It really can’t be helped.

Therefore, this piece is the same; please see the photos of the lining.

If anything, the coating on this particular piece has mostly finished peeling, so I don't think it will flake off much more. It causes no issues for wear, so I hope you understand.

So, by garment dyeing it at the end, the cotton fabric becomes softer, denser, and its luster increases—that is how Raso Gommato was created.

It's just so geeky. It's truly amazing. Haha.

I genuinely believe that their stubborn dedication to trial and error, a testament to the efforts of the people working in the studio at the time, is exactly why it is so highly regarded today!

And it's true—it’s incredibly comfortable to wear, and it handles light rain without a problem (it is a water-repellent fabric, after all). I wear it all the time, it's soft, and I’ll say it for the second time—it is just so comfortable. Haha.

It has an urban, sporty vibe that is really cool.

There is some slight soiling, but this is "raw" Stone Island, which I personally love.

I think this series even looks cool when it's more beaten up!!

It would make a great "go-to" piece for spring!
