A-11C flight pants adopted by the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s.
These were worn underneath the B-15C flight jacket.
They appear to have been issued primarily to bomber and reconnaissance crews.
The zipper design is the most eye-catching feature of these pants; while there are seven pockets on the front,
four are functional, while the other three—located at the waist and near the top of the right thigh—are pass-throughs. There are two pockets on the back, so they are quite practical as well.
They are made of a high-quality, supple, and substantial nylon, featuring a nylon lining with padding. It really makes you realize just how cold it gets up in the sky. Haha.
The color is incredibly alluring, with a glossy, luxurious look that is simply wonderful.
It is a deep navy blue.
The craftsmanship is also superb. Such luxurious specifications are a kind of creation only possible in military gear, made at the time with a focus on utility and climate rather than fashion. That is what draws me to vintage military items.
It’s chilling to think about how much it would cost to make clothes with this kind of design and fabric today. Haha.
The zippers are made by CONMAR, and they come with the original suspenders.
I'm happy they come with the suspenders. Haha.
The hems feature matching knit cuffs. Having them bunch up a little at the hem is also cute.
Above all, the condition is outstanding.
It's in such great shape that it could be deadstock. I believe that wearing them in this condition transcends the "vintage" label and enhances their appeal as a piece of clothing.
This is a piece that holds personal meaning for me, as it was the source material for a designer I am a huge fan of.
