VEB Haldensleben Germany fat lava

A flower vase by the East German state-owned pottery manufacturer, VEB Haldensleben.

Light blue base with black and gray "fat lava" glaze.

Beyond the coloring, the matte texture is simply irresistible.

The exquisite balance between the uneven, natural texture of the glaze and the vibrant colors

is characteristic of the "4087A" series, which appears to come in various colorways.

We typically associate vintage pottery with West Germany, but

this original piece completely overturned that image and suddenly piqued our interest in the East.

By the way, "VEB" is a designation that essentially means East German state-owned,

which we often see on clothing tags—we just love the "VEB" label.

Finding it on such wonderful pottery really got us excited (lol).

This flower vase holds a special place in our hearts as a new discovery.
