It’s here. This extra-large pile carpet that we haven't seen in way too long.
I came across this piece in Germany. I believe it was made around the 1970s.
It features the thick, plush pile unique to the handmade latch-hook technique.
The pattern is beautifully intricate, with vivid colors and a wonderful design.
Around the 70s, latch-hooking became a popular hobby for grandmothers and homemakers, and kits with pre-set patterns were commonly sold at the time.
However, given this size and design, I believe it was created from scratch as an original work by a professional or someone with professional-level skill.
Also, the tassels on the bottom are a subtle but adorable touch.
It’s such a simple yet brilliant idea for an accent.
Judging by these tassels, it was likely made as a wall tapestry, but of course, it can also be used as a rug on the floor. The backing is covered with a silky, lustrous fabric.
When displaying it on a wall, I recommend securing it by driving a few nails along the edge; the long pile should hide them well.
A piece of this size is a rare find, so I highly recommend it. It will instantly brighten up any room.
