I absolutely love this.
A vintage rug poncho.
It features a design where a slit is cut into the center of a large rug, allowing you to just toss it over your head.
The balance between the monochrome, mod color scheme and the warm, rich character of the rug is just wonderful.
I believe it is wool, but it isn't heavy or stiff; it has a soft feel to it,
so it might contain a little synthetic fiber or cotton.
I've only introduced a rug poncho once before—a red kilim one—
and this is the first time I've come across another one since then. They are surprisingly rare.
Since this one is monochrome, I think it’s easy to incorporate into any style.
On the morning I found it in Paris, I was wearing a rather thick knit sweater but was still quite cold,
so I borrowed it for a little while. It was warm, and above all, it really lifted my spirits. haha
Doesn't it just get you excited to walk around with the fabric of a poncho swishing about? Who am I even asking?
In the photos, I am wearing it both sideways and vertically.
Wearing it sideways creates a boat neck with long sleeves and a shorter length,
while wearing it vertically creates a V-neck with shorter sleeves and a longer length, so please change it up depending on your balance with pants or other items.
Since it's a large, loose piece, I also recommend wearing it over a jacket or coat,
or cinching it with a belt, or wearing it off-the-shoulder—the styling possibilities are truly infinite.
Oh, and if you get bored of it, it can just become a rug. haha
