A vintage manual-wind watch from the former East German watchmaker Ruhla.
I’ve managed to stock these again. The more you learn about Ruhla watches, the deeper you fall down the rabbit hole.
Like the popular Ruhla clear watch from the other day, this one is also from the 70s-80s and comes from the same antique shop.
Although it is a women's model, this minimalist socialist design is also recommended for men.
Only the case is original, as the strap has been replaced with a brand new black leather one.
While I prefer for the strap to be original as well, I felt that this solid black and silver look works quite well for this watch.
The smooth black calf leather and the silver buckle, matching the case, fit comfortably on the wrist.
It is made of genuine German leather that you can break in and make your own over time.
It is in excellent condition and has been perfectly inspected and cleaned by the owner, so it is recommended even for those who are hesitant about vintage or antique items.
There is almost no scratching on the glass, providing a clear view. I believe the only visible mark is a slight line near the number 4, which you can also check in the photos.
Above all, I am very drawn to this font.
The numbers are in a retro mid-century font, accompanied by the 60s-90s Ruhla logo, the word "antimagnetic," and "made in GDR" at the very bottom.
The background is a matte silver with a fine hairline finish.
The solid combination of black and silver is truly cool.
Ruhla was a historic manufacturer that conducted large-scale watch production in East Germany. Due to the factory being forced to close with the fall of the Berlin Wall (though it was later revived), this minimalist watch production ended in 1991.
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves German or Eastern European socialist design.
It features a date-just structure, with the date displayed in a small window to the right of the dial.
Please adjust the date when it arrives, at the same time you set the time.
Rotate the crown, and the date will advance by one day for every two full rotations of the hands, representing 24 hours.
Since the numbers go up to 31, please reset it to 1 at the beginning of months that do not have 31 days.
Please avoid setting the time at the exact moment the date changes.

The watch is fully functional and runs well, but it gains or loses about 2 minutes per day, so please adjust the time once a day referring to the instructions below.
When it arrives, wind it fully once and pull the crown to set the time.
After that, wind it slowly until it is fully wound at the same time every day, and adjust the time if there is any deviation.
Winding it frequently can wear down the screw and affect durability, so it is recommended to wind it "once a day," "at the same time," and "slowly until the end."
